Youth Leadership Collier participants outline solutions to Collier County challenges at Greater Naples Chamber Board of Directors meeting
The Greater Naples Chamber Board of Directors was pleased to receive a presentation from Youth Leadership Collier Class of 2024 representatives during its Jan. 30 Board of Directors meeting. The presentation offered a variety of solutions to challenges related to housing, health care and the environment in Collier County.
“These young leaders represent the future of Collier County, and their voices are vital to shaping the trajectory of our community’s future,” said Kristina Park, president and CEO of the Greater Naples Chamber. “By listening to their perspectives, we’re not just building a future for them, but with them, ensuring it reflects their vision and aspirations.”
Founded in 2005, Youth Leadership Collier is specifically designed for rising high school seniors in Collier County. The one-week session features a weekend retreat, hands-on business and leadership experiences, and a behind the scenes session that provides students with a first-hand understanding of a variety of industries in Collier County.
As part of the program, participants are given the opportunity to present to the Chamber Board of Directors about what they learned and offer solutions to community challenges.
Representatives from the Youth Leadership Collier Class of 2024 identified affordable housing, access to health care and the environment as the top issues facing the community. The students identified several solutions to each of the topics, including encouraging employer-sponsored housing to attract and retain essential workers, educational opportunities surrounding health care and sustainable practices.
“Youth Leadership Collier ignites a spark in young people, giving them the tools to become impactful leaders and watching them discover the power they have to make a difference,” said Tiffany Lehman, chair of the Youth Leadership Collier program. “For me, Youth Leadership Collier is more than a program, it’s personal. Every year, we see the incredible transformation participants undergo and I’m deeply grateful that students have the opportunity to share their experiences with key business leaders in our community.”
Youth Leadership Collier is a program of the Leadership Collier Foundation, an affiliate of the Greater Naples Chamber that works to activate the potential of leaders to build a stronger Collier County through leadership programs, community education and resource building.
Applications for the 2025 Youth Leadership Collier class are now open through Feb. 18. Applicants should be a Collier County junior, demonstrate leadership at school and in the community, and commit to 100% participation in the week-long program. Participants are chosen by a selection committee. Tuition for the program is $500. Scholarships are available upon request.
